Dear Roundup Families,

We are writing to address and clarify rumors circulating on social media regarding a claim that a student brought a weapon to the elementary school today. We want to assure you that these rumors are entirely false, and there was no credible threat to our school, staff, or students. To ensure transparent communication, here is an accurate timeline of how the situation was handled:

1.  11:20 AM: A student reported to a teacher that another student claimed to have a weapon.

2.  Immediate Response: The teacher immediately notified the school principal. The student in question was promptly escorted to the main office.

3.  Investigation: The School Resource Officer (SRO) was called to assist. A thorough search of the student's possessions was conducted, and no weapon was found.

4.  Follow-up: School administration immediately contacted the parents of the students involved as soon as all accurate details were gathered.

The student discipline matter was addressed quickly and efficiently according to our district policies. We want to thank the student who came forward to report the concern; this is exactly what we train our students to do when they hear or see something concerning.

Please be assured that Roundup Public Schools takes the safety and security of our students and staff with the utmost seriousness. We appreciate your continued partnership in keeping our schools safe.

Sincerely,
Roundup Public Schools Administration
