Montana State University-Northern Head Cross Country Coach Deborah Callahan has announced the signing of Roundup High School runner Deserae Toombs to join the cross country and distance track program in the fall.

"I'm very excited that Deserae is joining our team" said Coach Callahan. "She has a great attitude, work ethic and understands the importance of academics." Deserae has the desire and determination to be successful as an individual and will make the team stronger.   We look forward to watching her grow with us at Northern.  If you asked her, she would state that she is looking forward to the challenge.

Because Roundup is a Class B school and has limited enrollment, she is also on the basketball court when she is not running the streets of Roundup. She comes with high recommendation for the Roundup High School's AD, Zach Bymaster and is excited for the Northern program.

Deserae as achieved a number of awards and honors for the past four years, including being an Honor Roll Student, Academic All State and lettering in Varsity for both running and basketball.

When asked why she chose Northern she replied, "I felt comfortable there on my visit plus the smaller class sizes."  She also noted that her parents Adam and Jamie met and graduated from Northern. She plans to major in Education to follow in the footsteps of her dad and all her grandparents. When she has some down time, she loves "four wheeling" and "snowmobiling".
