Dear Roundup Junior/Senior High School Families,
Welcome back for another exciting school year! We are thrilled to have our halls buzzing once again with the energy, talent, and enthusiasm of our students.
As a first-generation college graduate and an educator for over a decade, I firmly believe that a quality education empowers students to reach their full potential and contribute meaningfully to their communities. This year, as I step into my new role as your Junior High/High School Principal and Activities Director, my core focus is on ensuring safety, clear communication, a positive school culture, and high academic achievement for all students.
To achieve this, I pledge to:
Champion equitable opportunities for every student in the classroom, in activities, and on the field.
Maintain a visible presence throughout our school community, in our hallways, and at our athletic events.
Collaborate with our dedicated staff to make sound, student-centered decisions that support our "Learners for Life."
Partner with families to propel student success and foster proud, competitive sportsmanship.

🔔 Important Update: First Day of School Schedule (Grades 7–12)
Please note that we have adjusted our schedule for the first day of school. We will not be using a staggered start this year. Instead, all students in grades 7 through 12 will begin together on Wednesday, August 19th.
8:00 AM: Students check into their 1st-period class.
8:08 AM: All students head to the High School Gym for an opening assembly led by Mr. Vergara.
We plan to wrap up the assembly with plenty of time for everyone to head straight into an on-time start for the 2nd period. We are so excited to gather the entire student body together to kick off a fantastic year!
📋 Important Reminders for Student Success
Backpack & Locker Policy: To maintain a safe, organized, and focused learning atmosphere, backpacks must be stored in student lockers during the school day.
Activities Dept. Compliance: All student-athletes must have their sports physicals and required MHSA paperwork fully completed before the first day of practice.

📱 New Campus Cell Phone Policy (Effective June 15th)
Following a recent policy update from the school board, students may not use cellular phones, smartwatches, or other electronic signaling devices anywhere on campus during the school day. Please ensure these devices are powered off and kept securely out of sight (in lockers) from the opening bell to the end of the day. This step ensures an environment focused on learning and free from digital distractions.
🤝 A Partnership for Success
I am deeply honored to serve as your Principal and Activities Director. I value the strong partnerships between our school, parents, and community. Working together, we will build positive relationships that nurture both academic achievement and personal growth. Whether in the classroom, the lab, or on the court, our commitment is to provide a safe, caring, and challenging environment for every Panther.
We are looking forward to a thriving 2026–2027 school year! Let’s make it a great one.
Go Panthers!
Respectfully,
Dom Vergara
