Dear Roundup Public Schools Community,

As we move into the remaining months of the school year, we would like to share important updates regarding our Early Out schedule and the opt-out/excusal process for junior high and high school students.

Our schedule includes periodic early dismissal days. During these half days students receive focused academic support. On designated early out dates, the school will operate on a modified 7-period schedule with shortened class periods.

Key Policy Updates & Schedule Highlights

• Mandatory Attendance in October: All students are required to attend all early out days throughout October.

Opt-out requests will not be accepted for any October dates.

• First Eligible Opt-Out Date: The opt-out process for eligible students begins with the scheduled early out on Friday, November 6.

Designated Opt-Out Dates

Parents and guardians may request an excusal for eligible students on the following dates:

• November: Friday, Nov. 6 | Wednesday, Nov 25

• December: Friday, Dec 11

• January: Friday, Jan 15 | Friday, Jan 29

• February: Friday, Feb 12 | Friday, Feb 26

• March: Friday, Mar 12

• April: Friday, Apr 2 | Friday, Apr 16

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for an early out excusal on eligible dates, students must meet all of the following standards:

• Academic Standing: Maintaining a "C" grade or higher in all classes (no D or F grades).

• Coursework: Zero missing or incomplete assignments.

• Conduct: No major behavioral referrals and no accumulation of minor infractions.

• Attendance: No excessive tardies or unexcused absences.

• School Accounts: All school fees and accounts paid in full.

Students who do not meet these criteria are required to remain on campus during early out hours. This time will be dedicated to completing missing coursework and receiving targeted academic assistance coordinated by our MultiTiered System of Supports (MTSS) team.

Submission Guidelines & Administrative Authority

• Form Submission: Completed and signed Opt-Out/Excusal forms must be submitted to the main office at least two business days prior to the requested early out date.

• Administrative Discretion: Early out privileges remain subject to review and may be revoked by administration at any time if a student ceases to meet eligibility standards.

We appreciate your continued partnership in fostering a productive, accountable learning environment for our students. Please contact the high school office if you have any questions regarding this policy.

Sincerely,

Mr. Vergara
